Ho Chi Minh Museum: Phan Thiet

The Ho Chi Minh Museum {1986}, located on the scenic banks of the Cy Ty River in Phan Thiet, Vietnam displays objects relating to the political leader and teacher, Ho Chi Minh's life. We had a chance to visit the school and museum, while touring around with Xuan and Felix.
*

{Above: Statue to Ho Chi Minh; the city was renamed Hồ Chí Minh City on his behalf following the defeat of the French Union in 1954 at the battle of Điện Biên Phủ, marking the creation of the United Communist Vietnam. However, the old city name of Saigon is typically still used by locals}.

{Below: Nearby Cy Ty River with it's vibrant fishing boats}.
*
{Ho Chi Minh was born to humble beginnings in Nghe An Province. A replica of his and his mother's home can be viewed at the museum}.
*

{He was a key figure in the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945, as well as the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Việt Cộng (NLF or VC) during the Vietnam War}.
*
Ho Chi Minh {The "Enlightener"} was also a teacher. He briefly taught at a private school in Phan Thiet {below} around 1911, before becoming involved in the radical French communist party under the pseudonym Nguyen Ai Quoc (Nguyen the Patriot).

  {Above and below: Duc Thanh School and surrounding courtyard, where Ho Chi Minh briefly worked as a teacher in his earl years. He tended the gardens, as well. It was located beside the museum}.

{Strange native star fruits in the trees in the school house gardens, and I swear this boy is Korean singer Psy's son! Gangnam style ;) }.
*
{Architecture of a nearby building in the gardens reflects the use of traditional Chinese Buddhist temples. My guess is that China is also a communist country, similar values, etc.}
*
{Official certificate at the private school}.
*
{Above: In 1912, Ho Chi Minh left Vietnam to find a way for "national salvation." He visited this hotel in NYC to observe the way in which working class Americans lived and worked}.
{Above: Ho Chi Minh pictured here at a 1920 conference in France. He acted as a representative of the Congress of Tours of the Socialist Party of France}.
{Not so secret, "secret" documents. I'm not sure of the translation; as it was not provided}.
*
{The iron wood tree in Ham Thuan where the revolutionary flag was hung on August 15, 1931 on the occasion of the International Anti-War Day.}
*
{Above: Artist's depiction of Minh forming the Communist Party of Vietnam or CPV in 1935}.
*
{Now President Ho Chi Minh watching over the construction of the capital on Hanoi. True to his form as a socialist, he insisted that the focus must remain on the house for working people. 1959}.
*
{Above: Minh pictured with a group of young women, while being recognized as a representative of women ethnic minorities in 1925}.
*
*
{Below: Apparently Ho Chi Minh liked to work out…Here with some dated work out gear.}
*
{A re-creation of the famous Coc Bo Cave, where Ho Chi Minh resided, fished, and worked before leading the country to his planned course of revolution, after 30 years abroad}.
*
A little dose of culture on our trip!
